Mets blank Phillies 8-0

The Phillies’s starter Jamie Moyer went 5 innings, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with 2 walks and no strikeouts. David Herndon (4.41), and Nelson Figueroa (5.09) also pitched for the Phillies. With the win, Dickey’s record goes to 1-0, while Moyer drops to 5-4. Raul Valdes earned the save for the Mets, bringing his saves up to 1.

In addition to the 8 runs, the Mets put up 13 hits and committed no errors. Jose Reyes led the Mets in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Jeff Francoeur’s 2 hits, and Rod Barajas with 2. Placido Polanco had the most hits for the Phillies (3), followed by Raul Ibanez (2), and Ryan Howard (2). Chase Utley could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Phillies got no runs, 9 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Tim McClelland, Mike Everitt, Andy Fletcher and Adrian Johnson. There were 33,026 Mets ticket holders in attendance at Citi Field.
