The Florida Marlins got a tough win over the New York Mets yesterday at Landshark Stadium with the Marlins picking up the W 10 to 8. You don’t often see such high scoring games, and anyone with Marlins tickets sure got their money’s worth. This high-scoring game saw the teams combine for a whopping 18 runs! Talk about excitement!
Marlins pitcher Ricky Nolasco (3.59 ERA) got the win, while Jonathon Niese (4.79 ERA) took the loss for the Mets. Ricky Nolasco went 6 innings for the Marlins, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Marlins was Chris Leroux (6.43), Dan Meyer (14.73), and Burke Badenhop (5.49). The Mets’s starter Jonathon Niese went 2 innings, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with one walk and one strikeout. Hisanori Takahashi (3.12), Manny Acosta (4.00), Fernando Nieve (4.64), and Francisco Rodriguez (1.93) also pitched for the Mets. With the win, Nolasco’s record goes to 4-2, while Niese is at 1-2. Jose Reyes could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Mets managed 8 runs, 12 hits and 2 errors.
