Diamondbacks embarrass Mets at Chase Field

The Arizona Diamondbacks blasted the New York Mets yesterday at Chase Field with the Diamondbacks triumphant 13 to 2. You don’t often see such high scoring games, and anyone with Diamondbacks tickets sure got their money’s worth. This high-scoring game saw the teams combine for a whopping 15 runs! Talk about excitement!

Diamondbacks pitcher Ian Kennedy (4.02 ERA) got the win, while Mike Pelfrey (4.01 ERA) took the loss for the Mets. Ian Kennedy went 5 innings for the Diamondbacks, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 2 walks and one strikeout. Also pitching for the Diamondbacks was Blaine Boyer (4.88), Sam Demel (3.86), and Chad Qualls (8.35). The Mets’s starter Mike Pelfrey went 1.1 innings, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and 6 earned runs with 2 walks and one strikeout. Raul Valdes (4.84), Fernando Nieve (5.93), Elmer Dessens (1.77), and Pedro Feliciano (2.78) also pitched for the Mets. With the win, Kennedy’s record goes to 5-7, while Pelfrey falls to 10-5.

Mark Reynolds provided much of the offense for the Diamondbacks with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 13 runs, the Diamondbacks managed 18 hits and committed one error. Mark Reynolds, Adam LaRoche and Miguel Montero all got 3 hits for the Diamondbacks. The Mets didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Mets mustered 2 runs, 8 hits and 2 errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Gerry Davis, Sam Holbrook, Greg Gibson and Brian Knight. There were 18,253 Diamondbacks ticket holders in attendance at Chase Field.
