The Washington Nationals got a tough win over the New York Mets yesterday at Nationals Park with the Nationals victorious 2 to 1. Wow! What a nail biter! This was a pitchers duel that Matt Capps and Pedro Feliciano will never forget! Fans with Nationals tickets saw two fantastic pitchers do battle. Nationals pitcher Matt Capps (3.28 ERA) got the win, while Pedro Feliciano (2.20 ERA) took the loss for the Mets. Livan Hernandez went 7 solid innings for the Nationals, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and one earned run with no walks and 7 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Nationals was Drew Storen (1.74). The Mets’s starter Johan Santana went 7 innings, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Elmer Dessens (0.61), and Ryota Igarashi (8.00) also pitched for the Mets. With the win, Capps’s record goes to 1-3, while Feliciano drops to 2-4.
In addition to the 2 runs, the Nationals put up 9 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Nationals, as nobody managed more than 2 hits.
