The Washington Nationals got a tough win over the New York Mets yesterday at Nationals Park with the Nationals victorious 2 to 1. Wow! What a nail biter! Nationals pitcher Matt Capps (3.28 ERA) got the win, while Pedro Feliciano (2.20 ERA) took the loss for the Mets. Livan Hernandez went 7 solid innings for the Nationals, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and one earned run with no walks and 7 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Nationals was Drew Storen (1.74). The Mets’s starter Johan Santana went 7 innings, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Elmer Dessens (0.61), and Ryota Igarashi (8.00) also pitched for the Mets. With the win, Capps’s record goes to 1-3, while Feliciano drops to 2-4.
In addition to the 2 runs, the Nationals put up 9 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Nationals, as nobody managed more than 2 hits.
