Mets pitcher Elmer Dessens (0.63 ERA) got the win, while Alex Sanabia (5.06 ERA) took the loss for the Marlins. Mike Pelfrey went 4.2 innings for the Mets, allowed 12 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with one walk and 3 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Mets was Ryota Igarashi (8.15), and Bobby Parnell (1.35). The Marlins’s starter Chris Volstad went 5 innings, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and 3 earned runs with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Jose Veras (7.45), Tim Wood (5.01), Taylor Tankersley (3.68), and Brian Sanches (3.38) also pitched for the Marlins. With the win, Dessens’s record goes to 2-1, while Sanabia drops to 0-1. Francisco Rodriguez earned the save for the Mets, bringing his saves up to 18.
