The New York Mets edged the Florida Marlins yesterday at Citi Field with the Mets securing the victory 6 to 5. It was a great baseball game that fans with Mets tickets will remember for quite some time. There’s not much better than a baseball game so get your MLB tickets before its too late.
Mets pitcher Hisanori Takahashi (4.05 ERA) got the win, while Will Ohman (3.13 ERA) took the loss for the Marlins. R.A. Dickey went 7 solid innings for the Mets, allowed 10 hits, one home run and 5 earned runs with no walks and 8 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Mets was Bobby Parnell (3.12). The Marlins’s starter Josh Johnson went 5 innings, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and 3 earned runs with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Brian Sanches (2.96), Burke Badenhop (3.86), and Clay Hensley (2.84) also pitched for the Marlins. With the win, Takahashi’s record goes to 8-6, while Ohman drops to 0-2.
In addition to the 6 runs, the Mets put up 12 hits and committed no errors. Angel Pagan led the Mets in hitting with 4 hits, followed by Josh Thole’s 2 hits, and David Wright with 2. Ike Davis had a tough day at the plate, leaving 6 runners on base. The Marlins’s Gaby Sanchez had quite a day at the plate, batting in a stunning 4 runs! Hanley Ramirez had the most hits for the Marlins (3), followed by Cameron Maybin (2), and Gaby Sanchez (2). Logan Morrison could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Marlins got 5 runs, 11 hits and 2 errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by Chad Fairchild, Todd Tichenor, Mike Reilly and Bill Miller. There were 27,136 Mets ticket holders in attendance at Citi Field.
