Pirates edge Mets by 1

The Pittsburgh Pirates barely got a “W” over the New York Mets yesterday at PNC Park with the Pirates winning 2 to 1. Wow! What a nail biter! This was a pitchers duel that Zach Duke and Johan Santana will never forget! Fans with Pirates tickets saw two fantastic pitchers do battle. You don’t see baseball games as low-scoring as this, and when you do you better appreciate it! In fact all sports are a great time so check out what sports tickets are out there.

Pirates pitcher Zach Duke (5.10 ERA) got the win, while Johan Santana (2.94 ERA) took the loss for the Mets. Zach Duke went 7 solid innings for the Pirates, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Pirates was Evan Meek (2.06). The Mets’s starter Johan Santana went 8 innings, allowed 4 hits, 2 home runs and 2 earned runs with one walk and 9 strikeouts. With the win, Duke’s record goes to 6-12, while Santana falls to 10-8. Joel Hanrahan earned the save for the Pirates, bringing his saves up to 2.

In addition to the 2 runs, the Pirates managed 4 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Pirates, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Mets didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Mets managed one run, 6 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Tim McClelland, D.J. Reyburn, Andy Fletcher and Adrian Johnson. There were 24,730 Pirates ticket holders in attendance at PNC Park.
