Wow! What a game you saw last night if you had New York Mets tickets, when Johan Santana threw a no hitter for the WIN_TEAM!! Congratulations to Santana as well as the Mets for an incredible accomplishment. You never know what you will see at a baseball game and if you were at Citi Field yesterday you’ll have a story to tell for the rest of your life! It was a huge win that rooters with Mets tickets aren’t likely to forget.
Mets pitcher Johan Santana (2.89 ERA) got the win, while Jason Hammel (4.42 ERA) took the loss for the Rockies. Johan Santana went 9 solid innings for the Mets, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with 2 walks and 10 strikeouts. The Rockies’s starter Jason Hammel went 7 innings, allowed 8 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with one walk and 4 strikeouts. Randy Flores (3.12), and Manny Corpas (4.50) also pitched for the Rockies. With the win, Santana’s record goes to 10-6, while Hammel drops to 8-7.
In addition to the 4 runs, the Mets put up 9 hits and committed no errors. Carlos Beltran led the Mets in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Jose Reyes’s 2 hits. Mike Hessman had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Rockies didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Rockies mustered no runs, 4 hits and no errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by D.J. Reyburn, Chris Guccione, Ed Rapuano and Phil Cuzzi. There were 32,272 Mets ticket holders in attendance at Citi Field.
