Rockies shutout by Mets at Citi Field

Wow! What a game you saw last night if you had New York Mets tickets, when Mike Pelfrey threw a no hitter for the WIN_TEAM!! Congratulations to Pelfrey as well as the Mets for an incredible accomplishment. You never know what you will see at a baseball game and if you were at Citi Field yesterday you’ll have a story to tell for the rest of your life! Wow! What a nail biter! This was a pitchers duel that Mike Pelfrey and Ubaldo Jimenez will never forget! Fans with Mets tickets saw two fantastic pitchers do battle. You don’t see baseball games as low-scoring as this, and when you do you better appreciate it!

Mets pitcher Mike Pelfrey (3.95 ERA) got the win, while Ubaldo Jimenez (2.55 ERA) took the loss for the Rockies. Mike Pelfrey went 7 solid innings for the Mets, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with one walk and 4 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Mets was Hisanori Takahashi (4.09). The Rockies’s starter Ubaldo Jimenez went 7 innings, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 4 walks and 8 strikeouts. Joe Beimel (2.50), and Rafael Betancourt (4.50) also pitched for the Rockies. With the win, Pelfrey’s record goes to 11-6, while Jimenez drops to 17-3. Francisco Rodriguez earned the save for the Mets, bringing his saves up to 25.

In addition to the one run, the Mets put up 4 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Mets, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Ike Davis had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Rockies didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Rockies mustered no runs, 4 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Ed Rapuano, Phil Cuzzi, D.J. Reyburn and Chris Guccione. There were 30,036 Mets ticket holders in attendance at Citi Field.
