Mets thrashed by Braves 9-2

The Atlanta Braves vaporized the New York Mets yesterday at Turner Field with the Braves picking up the W 9 to 2. It was one heck of a game that folks with Braves tickets aren’t likely to forget. Baseball isn’t the only game in town. See what other cheap sports tickets are out there.

Braves pitcher Mike Minor (3.91 ERA) got the win, while Jonathon Niese (3.70 ERA) took the loss for the Mets. Mike Minor went 5 innings for the Braves, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Braves was Eric O’Flaherty (2.11), Jonny Venters (1.71), Takashi Saito (2.76), and Peter Moylan (3.33). The Mets’s starter Jonathon Niese went 4.2 innings, allowed 10 hits, one home run and 3 earned runs with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Elmer Dessens (2.16), Ryota Igarashi (6.93), and Pedro Feliciano (3.23) also pitched for the Mets. With the win, Minor’s record goes to 3-0, while Niese is at 8-7.

David Ross provided much of the offense for the Braves with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 9 runs, the Braves scored 12 hits and committed one error. Derrek Lee led the Braves in hitting with 3 hits, followed by David Ross’s 2 hits, and Melky Cabrera with 2. Matt Diaz had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Mets didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Mets managed 2 runs, 7 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Alfonso Marquez, Tim Timmons, Dan Iassogna and Bob Davidson. There were 18,430 Braves ticket holders in attendance at Turner Field.
