The Arizona Diamondbacks annihilated the New York Mets yesterday at Citi Field with the Diamondbacks victorious 14 to 1. Diamondbacks pitcher Daniel Hudson (4.56 ERA) got the win, while Jonathon Niese (3.78 ERA) took the loss for the Mets. Daniel Hudson went 8 solid innings for the Diamondbacks, allowed 3 hits, no home runs and one earned run with one walk and 4 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Diamondbacks was Esmerling Vasquez (4.50). The Mets’s starter Jonathon Niese went 4.1 innings, allowed 7 hits, 2 home runs and 6 earned runs with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Elmer Dessens (1.93), and Oliver Perez (6.70) also pitched for the Mets. With the win, Hudson’s record goes to 2-1, while Niese drops to 7-5.
Adam LaRoche provided much of the offense for the Diamondbacks with an incredible 6 runs batted in. In addition to the 14 runs, the Diamondbacks put up 16 hits and committed no errors. Adam LaRoche led the Diamondbacks in hitting with 3 hits, followed by John Hester’s 2 hits, and Mark Reynolds with 2. Stephen Drew had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Mets didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Mets mustered one run, 5 hits and 2 errors.
